Exploring the Sections and Challenges of Japan’s Premier English Language Assessment
The EIKEN® test consists of multiple grades, and Grade 1 is the highest level. The Grade 1 EIKEN test is comprehensive and challenging, assessing the test taker’s advanced English language proficiency. It consists of the four main sections.
1. Reading Comprehension
In this section, test takers are presented with a variety of complex written texts, such as fill in the blanks sentences, essays, articles, and reports. 2. Listening Comprehension

4. Speaking
The speaking section assesses the test taker’s ability to communicate fluently and effectively in spoken English. Test takers are engaged in various tasks, such as giving presentations, discussing topics, and responding to questions. This section evaluates their pronunciation, grammar usage, vocabulary, and overall oral communication skills.
